Collection container project Guadeloupe

From Miesbach to the Caribbean

In December 2008, Kinshofer Technik implement a major international project, delivering a total of 1,000 depot containers for waste management: 500 glass containers and 500 containers for plastic packaging and cans to Guadeloupe (French Antilles), specifically to Pointe-à-Pitre.

This project is a prime example of the international applicability of our container solutions – even under demanding climatic conditions. Discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus and known as one of the world’s most renowned diving destinations, Guadeloupe symbolises the global use of modern recycling solutions “Made in Germany”.

Departure from Miesbach – Transport to the Caribbean

The approximately 4-week journey then went from Miesbach to the Munich container terminal by truck, from Munich by freight train to Bremerhaven, then by sea on container ships with evocative names like “Saint Georges,” “Saint Louis,” or “Saint Pierre” via Le Havre to Guadeloupe

240 units were already on their way, followed by company founder Klaus Kinshofer and two employees in early December 2008.

They spent a week on-site training the local staff of the Pointe-à-Pitre district so that they could then assemble the Miesbach products independently.
